The end of the spring TV season is usually met with tears due to cancelations, character deaths, actor exits, and shocking cliffhangers.
This Spring, writers held no qualms about killing off main characters, or writing off characters in general, and we saw many of our beloved ones either meet their fate or see the door out.
Some were shocking, like Ziva David’s death in NCIS, and some were not, but they remain sad just the same.
Below is a list of some of the characters we’ll miss the most in the upcoming fall season.

Callie Torres – Grey’s Anatomy
Sometimes it is easy to forget that Callie Torres wasn’t one of the original Grey’s Anatomy cast members. She’s been around almost as long and has become an integral part of the core. Her energy and humor will be missed, but at least she’s still alive, so there’s hope we will see her again someday!

Tony DiNozzo – NCIS
Very Special Agent Tony DiNozza was on NCIS from the very first episode. His smart-ass antics made us laugh which made it all the more touching when we watched him mourn good friends like Kate Todd and Director Jenny Shepherd. Tony was both fun and complicated in his own way. We always hoped he’d find happiness but we never expected that it would be through a daughter he never knew he had. We’re truly going to miss him and NCIS certainly won’t be the same without him.

Lexa – The 100
Lexa met her fate by way of a stray bullet, shot by the one person who was supposed to always protect her. The Commander deserved a more fitting end for a warrior that fought so hard to save the Sky people who had done nothing but murder her own before her death.

Laurel Lance/Black Canary – Arrow
Laurel didn’t survive Arrow Season 4 Episode 18. She became a victim of Damien Darhk, the catalyst to plunge the other characters, but mostly Oliver and her father, into a darkness that finished the season. She had just become the Black Canary, just stepped into the role of hero in the light and the shadows, but I guess she had to go because Oliver was struggling to be a hero in the light, whereas Laurel embraced it so easily.

Juliette Barnes – Nashville
Her plane never landed on the Nashville Season Finale. She never reunited with her family after she had already given up an Oscar nomination and possibly her career by admitting the role she played in Jeff Fordham’s heroic death. Even though Nashville might be renewed over at CMT, we have to assume her plane crashed, as we were left with nothing but the fact that it had sent out a distress signal. We’re going to miss our favorite drama queen.

Leonard Snart – Legends of Tomorrow
Sure, Leonard Snart will be sticking around all of the DC shows as a full time rover. But it’s the unevolved Leonart Snart. Captain Cold. The guy who hasn’t learned he has more to offer the world than smartass comments and his badass criminal’s skills. Will his memories of the missing time ever come back to him the way they do on 12 Monkeys? I sure hope so. If not, he’s the character I’ll miss the most.

Norma Bates – Bates Motel
Much like Leonard Snart, Norma Bates isn’t going anywhere on Bates Motel, but things will never be the same again. She is, after all, dead. No longer buried, of course, but dead nonetheless. Norman will keep a version of her around in his mind. But it’s not the version we’ve come to know. She’ll be completely constructed through Norman’s many neuroses. Close, but no cigar.

Peggy Carter – Agent Carter
Peggy Carter was a feminist way ahead of her time. She founded S.H.I.E.L.D. and was a hero before there were capes and alien abilities out in the open. She was a woman fighting for equality in a time when no one would allow her the respect she deserved, but she demanded it, and kicked ass while doing it. We lost her twice this year. In Captain America: Civil War, modern day Peggy died, and Agent Carter was cancelled. It’s a shame we won’t have such an important figure on television anymore.

Grant Ward/Hive – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Will we miss the constant back and forth between Ward and Coulson? No. But we’ll miss Brett Dalton, who officially left the show after both of his character’s met their ends. Grant Ward was murdered by Coulson, then infected by Hive, who was then stranded in space with Lincoln in the final moments of the finale. The layers he brought to his characters, especially Ward, who went from agent, to traitor, to villain, in three seasons. For Skyeward shippers, they received no closure, and it’s a shame.

Robin Hood – Once Upon A Time
Not so much because we love Robin himself, but we’re going to miss Robin because we loved what he did for Regina. We loved their love story.

Brian Finch – Limitless
Limitless could have been just another procedural with a twist but it was slacker turned genius Brian Finch that sucked us in. It was the way that Brian’s mind (albeit with the help of a special sci-fi-type drug) helped solve crimes with the FBI that put a fresh twist on the spy game. We’re going to miss his cheeky smile and his almost sibling-like banter with Rebecca now that the show is gone.

Bash – Reign
Though Reign Season 3 and Bash’s story has yet to end, it has been announced that Torrance Coombs will be leaving the series to focus on his new ABC show, Still Star-Crossed. Somehow the writers will write Bash out of their story, and it’s looking to be through his death.

Audrey, Nathan, Duke (and Dwight!) – Haven
We can’t pick just one. The characters of Haven were welcome every time the theme music played. It used to make us giddy each time it started playing. Audrey, Nathan and Duke were coming out to play! Their banter and the way the investigated the unknown was unlike anything else on television. If they had kept the show on summers, it would have lasted forever.
